Amla

Amla berry (Phyllanthus emblica) is also known as Indian Gooseberry or Amalaki in Ayurveda and has been used in India for centuries for its beauty and vitality-boosting properties.* Amla berry is a fruit that is grown on a tree. It’s often found wild and cultivated in all parts of India. It has a rich history in Ayurveda and has been traditionally used as a general tonic both topically and internally as a coolant to moderate excess heat and inflammation in the body and also to increase vitality, enhance digestion, stimulate hair growth, and promote longevity.*

A clinical study found that supplementation with Indian Gooseberry (Amla Berry) for 12 weeks supported a healthy inflammatory response in the cardiovascular system.* Amla has been historically used to help stimulate blood circulation in the scalp which is said to help stimulate hair growth.*

Tremella Mushroom Extract

The tremella mushroom, or tremella fuciformis or “snow mushroom”, is an edible species of fungus that has been used in Eastern medicine for over a thousand years. This superfood ingredient is popular in dessert delicacies such as “snow fungus soup” and have historically been used to help boost skin hydration over time after being consumed.* In the Tang dynasty, concubine Yang Guifei (713-756 AD) who was famed as one of China’s four great beauties of the time, is said to have credited the gelatinous tremella mushrooms for maintaining her youthful, plump skin.

Bamboo Leaf Extract

Bamboo leaf extract is one of our favorite ways to boost our hair, skin, and nail health.* Silica-ich bamboo has been used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese herbal medicine for centuries as a remedy to heal skin ailments, relieve congestion, promote bone health, and more.* Bamboo leaf extract, which is featured in all of our blends, is extracted from the roots and leaves of the bamboo plant, where the silica is plentiful.

Silica, a naturally-occurring mineral found in water, plant, and animal sources, is a popular ingredient in beauty because of its high quantities of vitamins and antioxidants that have been shown to support our hair, skin, and nail health and overall well-being.* Silica is required for the production of collagen in our bodies. As we age our silica and collagen levels tend to decline. Silica has been linked to increased collagen production and improved skin health as well as decreased inflammation.

Bamboo is composed of nearly 70% silica, making it one of the richest and most sustainable sources out there.* A study completed by the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil suggests that silica is necessary for optimal collagen synthesis and activation of hydroxylating enzymes, improving skin strength and elasticity.”

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid, also referred to as as hyaluronan, is a molecule made up of sugars that our bodies naturally produce. Our cells produce hyaluronic acid to balance moisture levels in our bodies, but make less of it as we age.* The cool thing about it is that it binds to and retains water (each molecule can hold up to 1,000x its weight in water). Our food grade hyaluronic acid helps to boost collagen production in our bodies and help our skin attract and retain moisture, helping with aging*. It’s also been shown to help smooth wrinkles, boost elasticity, help with skin firmness and boost skin radiance.* Another amazing thing about hyaluronic acid is that it has been shown to help lubricate joints and promote joint health.*

Matcha

Matcha is a whole leaf green tea which has been revered for its purity and health benefits for centuries. Its origins date back to the 15th century when it was the primary ceremonial tea in traditional Japanese and Chinese cultures. Matcha green tea, unlike regular green tea, is grown in the shade rather than the sun, enabling it to develop higher chlorophyll levels which give it its vibrant color. This method of cultivation, plus the fact that it ground and consumed as a whole leaf green tea powder, also give matcha an extra boost in its natural levels of caffeine. Matcha is an excellent substitute for coffee. One cup contains about ¼ the caffeine of a cup of coffee and helps the person enjoying it get a steady energy boost without the crash.*

Matcha is also rich in L-Theanine, an amino acid that works to promote a brain function, concentration, and sense of calmness without the nervous energy or jitters.* L-Theanine can also work to reduce anxiety because of the high and raw amounts that are found in matcha.*
