A quick recap on matcha
Matcha is made of finely ground whole leaf green tea. As opposed to soaking the leaves in water how you would normally prepare a green tea, by blending these leaves into a powder you're consuming all the nutrients at their most potent potential. Matcha has been used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies for over 800 years, and it's antioxidant and skin-boosting properties are finally gaining some major popularity in other parts of the world.
This creamy and delicious powder is even catching the attention of die-hard coffee lovers. Matcha's naturally occurring caffeine provides a clean and sustained energy boost without the mid-day coffee crash making it the perfect morning drink or afternoon pick-me-up.
The Copina Co. Matcha Collagen Beauty Powder is a creamy and delicious blend of skin-boosting research-backed botanicals like moringa, matcha, and hyaluronic acid. Each serving works to promote collagen synthesis and skin hydration for healthy hair, skin, joints, and nails. We believe you shouldn't have to consume animal by-products to achieve glowing skin and hair so our Matcha Collagen Beauty powder is always vegan, gluten-free, and grain-free.
What's all the buzz around turmeric
Turmeric, a plant of the ginger family, is an ancient Indian spice historically used in both Indian cooking and Ayurveda medical practices as a holistic form of healing. It's deep and beautiful orange pigment comes from the active ingredient curcumin. Otherwise known as curcuminoids, this compound is packed with antioxidants and minerals that boost our skin and overall wellbeing.*
Turmeric is most notably known for its medicinal properties specifically for its ability to reduce inflammation thanks to the curcumin.* Balancing out our bodies' inflammation levels is beneficial to long term health and encourages the aging process to slow down. * Curcumin also has been found to support heart health, ease aches and pains, boost detoxification, enhance mood, and support weight loss when combined with a healthy diet.* Turmeric is also a great source of vitamins and minerals such as iron, fiber, vitamin B-6, and potassium.*
Why pepper is important when using turmeric
Research suggests that adding a dash of pepper to turmeric helps the absorption of all the nutrients of turmeric. Turmeric can be hard for the body to digest due to research finding it to have a low bioavailability. Pepper contains active ingredients that when combined with turmeric helps the body easily digest and enhances all the antioxidant properties of the spice.
What you'll need to make an Iced Turmeric Matcha Latte
To prepare this delicious iced turmeric matcha latte at home you only need a few key ingredients.
- 1-2 tsp Copina Co Matcha Beauty Plant-Based Collagen Booster
- 2 tsp ground turmeric
- ¾ cup milk of choice (we used malk organics almond milk)
- A dash or 2 of pepper
- 1 tsp of sweetener (we used maple syrup)
- A dash or 2 of pepper
- Ice
- A hand frother
How to make an Iced Turmeric Matcha Latte
- Prepare frothed turmeric milk: In a tall glass, add in milk and your sweetener of choice. We used maple syrup but honey, sugar, or agave work just fine as well. Froth until foamed and creamy. Next, add in ground turmeric and cracked pepper and froth until fully combined and the milk turns a beautiful orange color. Pour into serving glass over handfuls of ice.
- Prepare matcha mixture: In another glass (or you can use the same one used for the milk) pour in water and Copina Co. Matcha Beauty. Blend with hand frother until combined. If you have time, we recommend blending the matcha in a heat-safe glass with hot water to activate the matcha and enhance its flavor. Make sure to let the mixture cool before going on to the next step if you do decide to heat your water.
- Serve: Pour matcha mixture into the glass on top of turmeric milk. Add in a straw, stir, and enjoy!
