If you haven’t already caught our gist on Instagram (follow us @copinaco if you haven’t already!) we’re basically obsessed with iced lattes. If you’re reading this then odds are you are too. It’s summer now and over what feels like 100 degrees every day so can you really blame us? Iced lattes are delicious, simple, and an easy health boost with the incredible health benefits of superfoods* and this Caffeine-Free Iced Blue Spirulina Latte is no different.
What’s Blue Spirulina?
Blue Spirulina is what gives this latte that bright blue hue, but we’re loving it for more than its beautiful color. Spirulina is an incredibly nutrient-dense blue-green algae rich in antioxidants, chlorophyll, minerals, iron, vitamin K, protein, and other important nutrients our bodies need.* It is, in fact, so nutrient-dense it was successfully used by NASA and their astronauts as a dietary supplement on their space missions and can be a great supplement for those on a plant-based diet.* Spirulina is also a great sustainable food source as it requires 10 times less water than most vegetables. It can be harvested year-round and can hold up against extreme weather conditions.
What Blue Spirulina Can Do for Your Body
Nutrient powerhouse: Spirulina is incredibly worthy of the superfood title for being one of the most nutrient-dense foods out there. It’s packed with essential nutrients like vitamin B1, 2, 3, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc.*
Flushes out toxins from our bodies: Spirulina is so powerful at detoxifying it’s even sometimes used as a natural water filter for keeping harmful toxins out of the water we drink. When consumed, it works by latching its proteins and peptides to toxins. It binds with them, then pushes them out of our body and bloodstream.* This, in turn, helps fight inflammation and create a happy and healthy gut.*
Improves digestion: Spirulina contains chlorophyll, a green pigment also found in algae, that helps regulate your digestive system and promotes healthy bacteria in the gut.*
Boosts immune system: One of the many antioxidants in Spirulina, phycocyanin helps fight against anything potentially harmful to our cells.* If you catch yourself getting the sniffles or feel yourself under the weather, incorporating Spirulina into your diet can help prepare and boost your body's ability to protect against many sicknesses.*
The Addition of Original Beauty
Blue Spirulina is always yummiest when blended with smoothies, nut milk, or any kind type of ingredients that will lightly sweeten it and balance out its flavor. It has a bit of an earthy taste, so we like it with a creamy and sweet element - Original Beauty does just the trick.
Our Original Vegan Collagen Support Blend is formulated with herbalist-approved and skin-boosting botanicals, coconut, and hyaluronic acid that help to boost collagen production without the use of animal products and promote skin hydration.* Its creamy and light flavor is exactly what this latte needs. Our beauty blends are always vegan – because you shouldn’t have to consume animals when you’re trying to boost your skin and overall health.*
How to Make a Caffeine-Free Iced Spirulina Latte
- 2 teaspoons Copina Co. Original Beauty Vegan Collagen Support Blend
- 1/2 cup almond milk (but any type of plant milk works just as good!)
- Ice
- 1 teaspoon blue spirulina
- a dash of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
How to Prepare a Caffeine-Free Iced Spirulina Latte
